The Basics of Garage Door Opener Spare Parts

The garage is one of the key parts of the home. It provides protection for your vehicles and other items you’ve stored inside of it. However, are you constantly worried about your garage door malfunctioning? Are you unsure of what kind of garage door opener spare parts you will need? If your answer to any of these questions is a big yes, then you are in for a treat because remove the information you will gain from this article. Even though calling the help of experts will definitely get your garage door fixed, you will still be required to find the necessary parts to correctly repair it. One of these parts is, of course, the opener.

The opener is the main element that makes the garage door operational. It powers up the door through a motor and it open and closes the door. You should definitely pay attention in the horsepower of the opener’s motor. The general idea is that the more horsepower it provides, the heavier the door it will be capable of opening. Now that you know what an opener does, here are the three types you can find in the market.

The first one is a chain drive opener which has a metal chain around a metal cog that goes lengthwise and it actually extends out from the motor. The chain will be connected to an arm on the garage door and it will be able to pull the door up when it is set in motion one way and it lets the door down when it motions the other way. This is probably one of the easiest openers to find in cheap garage door repair shops.

The next type of opener is the belt drive. This similar to a chain drive opener, but instead of using a metal chain to open and close the door, this utilises a rubber belt. It is able to move in two basic directions around the metal rod for opening and closing functions.

Lastly there’s the screw drive opener. This uses a threaded steel rod to actually lift and pull down the garage door. This type of opener has a fewer moving parts compared to the chain or belt drive.
There are different pros and cons that come with each opener. You have to do your research and ask the professional advice of a garage door service to know which among the three is the right one for you.
